What is Turkish/Bulgarian Delight Made Of?

The main ingredients are sugar, water, and starch (wheat starch), which provide a sweet flavour and gel-like consistency. Flavourings such as pomegranate are added along with an acidity regulator (citric acid) to ensure a smooth texture. Natural food colourings such as anthocyanins may also be used to enhance the appearance.

How is Turkish/Bulgarian Delight Made?

Sugar and water are mixed and carefully heated to achieve the desired consistency. A starch solution is then combined with the sugar syrup and cooked at a controlled temperature until it reaches the correct gel-like texture. Once cooked, flavourings and colourings are added. The hot mixture is poured into trays to cool and set, then cut into traditional small cube shapes and coated in powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
